Nestled in a leafy park, this family home celebrates the small moments that bring joy to peoples daily life. With a focus on texture rather than colour we decided to bring richness into the scheme by choosing chunky, luxurious textiles and natural materials: the concrete floor is softened with large area rugs in jute and wool; oak joinery conceals televisions, forms shelving and encloses wardrobes, travertine sinks and gold taps brings a touch of luxury to the bathroom areas.
The ground floor is conceived for family living: The kitchen, family living room and dining area are arranged around a cruciform plan, allowing for open plan living but still providing a degree of privacy and separation to each area. This then leads on to progressively more private spaces: the formal living room, guest bedroom and office.
In order to enter the master bedroom you first pass through a timber lined dressing room through a gap in the wardrobes. Slender cabinets, rich timber finishes and brass hardware give the space an intimate and luxurious feel, punctuating the otherwise light colour palette throughout the upper floor. A light ash floor gives a softer feel to the sleeping quarters and the Bauwerk paint provides a calm, lightly textured surface on which light and shadow can play quietly without the harsh reflections associated with more glossy finishes.
