This renovation of a 1930’s townhouse pairs natural materials and hand made items with mid-century furniture to create a sleek yet inviting interior. Natural oak parquet was installed throughout suffusing the interior with a warm, golden glow. We then layered on a refined palette of materials: cognac leather, deep green marble, smoked oak, polished steel and aluminium. Materials that bring contrasts of tone and texture which cohere into a rich environment.
Bespoke joinery items like the desk, walk in wardrobe and marble coffee table bring unique touches to the home. The home office was inspired by beautiful old libraries and their use of rich oaks and deep green leather desk tops that paired beautifully with the clients love for mid-century furniture.
The living room plays with contrasts: a modern, sculptural sofa is juxtaposed against a hand knotted Moroccan rug; precision machined and lacquered tables host wonky pieces of studio pottery. We designed a green marble coffee table to bring some gentle curves into a room otherwise dominated by rectilinear shapes and hard angles. The mirror above the sofa invites moments of playful interest into the room, reflecting unexpected corners of the room into the viewers eye line.
